I just recently returned from our Sacred Journey to Egypt, a first for Shift.

And it was truly epic, not just for me but for the entire group of 60 souls who participated.

Part of the magic was in a co-created adventure where we could engage in communion and ceremony in some of the most ancient temples in the world. We had private time in many of these sacred sites, which were in use for thousands of years. The quality of Shift folks who participated was such a blessing — deep, wise, generous, and contributory.

Yet, there is something deeper about a specific engagement with ancient Egypt that I increasingly see as essential for the larger Shift on our planet.

Too often, we use a modern worldview to interpret things like the Great Pyramid, the Sphinx, or the many ancient temples, interpreting them through an egoic lens as monuments to wealthy pharaohs or as archaic ways to honor long-past gods.

What I now believe, after years of exploration and this trip’s validation, is that ancient Egypt — known as Kemet to those who lived there — was the inheritor of a more advanced system of initiation into higher domains of consciousness than anything we have yet created. The avant-garde of Kemet culture was a kind of balanced, integrated, holistic template for awakening that we are still striving to recreate.

How could this be?

First, we have to take seriously the evidence that Atlantis — first mentioned by Plato — is likely to have been a historical fact rather than a myth. In books like Fingerprints of the Gods, by Graham Hancock, there is a serious exploration of the following facts:

• Many pyramids arose in parallel in disparate parts of the world, without clear connections. Some of the largest and most well-designed (like the Great Pyramid) appear to be more ancient than the more recent. The Great Pyramid, in particular, is an engineering marvel that still staggers the modern mind.
• The use of massive quarried stones — up to hundreds of tons — is associated with the most ancient civilizations. We are still unable to replicate some of the precise stonework (often not requiring mortar), much less the transport of these massive stones.
• Myths of a great flood are found in hundreds of cultures and link to the extinction events of 10,500-10,900 BC that wiped a lot of the larger species off the planet, leading vast numbers of wooly mammoths to flash freeze in Siberia and species like the saber tooth tiger to go extinct. Here’s a Scientific American article on one theory for this die-off
• The Piri Reis map, passed down from ancient Egypt, depicts Antarctica as a land mass split by a waterway (which is accurate but it’s under two miles of ice) and coastlines that mirror a lower-ocean time from South America to Antarctica.
• Various cultures from the Kogi to the Maya claim descent from Atlantean culture.
• The ancients’ ability to precisely carve certain extremely hard stones like diorite is still inexplicable.

I don’t have time in this space to go into the evidence amassed, which includes underwater evidence around the world to references to numbers related to the precession of the Equinoxes. But I have become convinced that it cannot be explained away and that the thesis that a real Atlantis existed is the most plausible truth.

If that is indeed the case, what ancient Kemet represented was not an early prototype of advanced civilization but an outpost of a decimated advanced culture that perhaps had technologies beyond our own, which could explain why the carving and moving of massive granitic stones appears to have been possible.

A book called Initiation, by Elizabeth Haich, is eye-opening in this regard. Written in the 1950s by a European yoga teacher who began to have very specific, detailed past-life memories centered on Egypt, it chronicles a system of careful preparation and initiation into the mysteries of the universe in those ancient days. The book includes profound and unique cosmological, mathematical, and transformational insights that resonate with deep truth. I have spoken with literally dozens of people who feel that this book is an accurate chronicle of some of their own memories. 

According to Haich’s memories, the Sons of Gods (descendents of Atlantis) were preserving a system of initiation for bringing people into a state of divine realization and embodiment that was very advanced. In re-reading that book now, it still feels like we have yet to reach that same level of attainment in any of our major wisdom traditions.

Haich is explicit in saying that the Sons of Gods saw a coming descent of humanity into a more primitive form and that they planned for this, while also recognizing that consciousness would eventually rise to the level where those mysteries could again be unveiled. Basically, the genetic and cultural lines from Atlantis were not strong enough to lift the baseline culture of humanity at the time, and humanity would need to go through a multi-thousand-year descent. They destroyed and dematerialized the advanced technologies once a certain point was reached so they wouldn’t fall into the wrong hands.

Toward the end of our trip, after a deep initiatory experience in the Great Pyramid, we spent an hour as a group meditating between the paws of the Sphinx, waiting for dawn. This spot is known for visionary downloads. The guidance I received there is that the Shift on the planet is not into a fundamentally new, unprecedented realm of conscious evolution but, in many ways, the re-activation of this more ancient system. 

The souls who incarnated in that time have a deep memory of the Kemetic culture (and by extension, the Atlantean), so when we gather with sacred intention and shared communion in the sites of ancient temples, we can begin to reanimate that consciousness.

What was clear is that a remarkable number of people in the group had a feeling of “coming home” on the trip and a subsequent spiritual opening as we engaged consciously with the ancient temples and ancestral fields of energy, working with the temples very much as they once were intended. Whether it was the sound-healing chambers deep beneath Saqqara or the intention amplifying power of Abu Ghurab (once the only Holy of Holies open to the sun, situated next to the largest obelisk in Kemet) or the healing of the masculine and feminine in Philae, temple of Isis/Auset, there was a deep reactivation of those ancient understandings.

I believe that we were doing this not just for ourselves but to contribute to the unlocking of those patterns in the collective memory.

What is clear is that the cosmology of Kemet was very sophisticated, representing an outpicturing of higher consciousness into form and a design of a society that could be peaceful, prosperous, and creative for thousands of years.

What I have increasingly come to believe is that from 10,500 BC to the time of recorded history in Egypt, starting around 3,400 BC, was a time of careful preservation of knowledge from a crushed civilization, a civilization with advanced understanding of how to initiate people into higher dimensions of consciousness and work with technologies that could support the transmission of healing energies. Multiple Shift sound-healing faculty, for instance, have said that their work has roots in that time.

Now, I believe, is the time that the ancient Sons of Gods saw as the moment when the knowledge could be rekindled and humanity would be mature enough to wield power with more wisdom. This trip was a kind of re-animation of some of that knowledge, following the ancient template for initiation and rebirth that went from Abydos to Philae, culminating in the Great Pyramid.

While at the Sphinx, I received a vision of the creation of an Esalen-like River of Light community in Aswan, a Light Festival, and Temples of Light around the world that would begin to reanimate these ancient understandings in a way that would naturally lead to the kinds of openings described in the wider society.

I also got the message to be like the Sphinx and be patient awaiting this new dawn. Humanity’s evolution can’t be forced, it can only be coaxed forward as people are ready. The souls with these more ancient codes are now beginning to reactivate them, which is why not only our group but several others that include current or future Shift faculty were ALSO in Egypt at the same time.
